Trip to BBC Somerset

Hello to the many obsessed fans that read this. Today I went on a lovely trip to the fantastic station that is BBC Somerset in Taunton. I was part of the Morning Show with Emma Britton (presenter) and Will Richards (producer, newsreader, travel aficionado, quality control advisor and general go-to man.) For the first hour I was with Will outside the studio, and for the second hour I was in the studio as quiet as a mouse frantically asking Emma as much as possible about the station and the controls while the songs were playing. Despite the early start I really enjoyed my few hours there, and hopefully it won't be the last time I go...

Show Review 30/09/10

A big thank you goes out to Rachel Henson who was the guest this week. She attempted all three challenges, scoring 2 minutes 1 second on the Cracker Challenge, 4 on the Spelling Bee and 2 on the lyrics. We said goodbye to her at the end of the episode because she is heading off to university next week. We discussed money boxes and shivering, and took a look back at some of the remixes featured on the show since January. Thanks for all the texts and emails. Here's a picture of Rachel attempting the Cracker Challenge.

The End Is Nigh! (For Project Genesis)

I come with the shocking and upsetting news that Project Genesis will be on air for the last time on October 7th. If you want to become the next presenter go to www.glastonburyfm.co.uk and click on volunteer. The Breakfast Show, however, will continue for the foreseeable future, but we still need people to help out on the show! If you want to get involved with the Breakfast Show it's the same as above (GFM's website and click volunteer). We need newsreaders, contributors, reporters and editors.

Project Genesis 02/09/10

September arrives and school looms for our younger listeners, so Project Genesis once more assumes its role of cheering up grumpy youths. This week we had Adam in the studio (At short notice). We discussed desk items, finished off our alphabet of bands which has been constructed over the last 26 weeks and found a pair of mysterious sunglasses on the desk...
Expect the podcast to be out ASAP (Probably around December)

Pictures of the amazing pen test where we discovered that on average GFM has five out of seven pens that work (short on material for the show!) and Adam and me wearing the mysterious sunglasses

BBC Radio Bristol!

A new chapter in the Charlie Taylor Saga (available from selected book stores and coffee shops) opened last night - seeing behind the scenes at a BBC radio station. Here is a list of differences between GFM and BBC Radio Bristol:
1. Security - GFM yet to install 24 hour security.
2. Activity - BBC Radio Bristol seems to have more than one person there at all times, when leaving at 10 pm I didn't have to check all the shutters were closed and lock up, else I would have locked about 100 people inside!
3. Multiple Studios - 3 programme studios and others for news, travel, weather etc.
4. Producers - OTHER people helping to create the show!
5. Adjoining TV studios - Glastonbury TV not existent. (Yet...)
6. Celebrities - No radio station complete without Richard Angwin or other stars from the TV.
However, there were similarities:
1. Friendly People.
2. Red "On Air" Light.
3. Great Presenters.
I had a great time there and hopefully I'll be back there soon.
Here's a photo of Keith in studio 1

Don't forget to listen to Project Genesis tonight, 8 - 10 pm on Glastonbury FM
107.1 in the local area or on line at www.glastonburyfm.co.uk/player/

Wells Moat Boat Race

Had a great day at the Wells Moat Boat Race, a dramatic finish including our pirate ship being invaded by another pirate (that we soon got rid of) made it a great day! We were helped out by some of my friends, I'll try and get them on a show soon and ask them about the day. watch this space!

The Charlie Taylor Podcast 17/06/10

In this episode Jess attempts the all new guests' challenge, forgets to do a celeb guess who and so makes one up in the studio, and most of the world has gone football/Glastonbury Festival mad.

Show Preview 17/06/10

Hi everyone. Right, I know it's been a long time since much activity happened on the blog, but that was due to exams and revision etc. Now that those are nearly all out of the way, I can start to update here more frequently. Anyway, tonight's show is a Glastonbury Festival Special! All tracks apart from my album of the month will be by artists performing at the festival next week. Enjoy! (Oh and Jess will be in the studio as well.)

Pics From Studio 20/05/10

This week we see me doing the impression of a cat that makes Jess laugh so, the marvellous contraption I created to stop the mic stand attacking Jess, Jess's supposed "bad hair day" and my monkey wearing head phones t shirt.
